[ARCHIVED] Portland Pilots New Tool for Community Input

portland news

The City of Portland is piloting a new tool to gather community input. Beginning Thursday, December 2, selected Portland residents may receive text messages from the public survey research platform FlashVote.

City officials are collaborating on a project with graduate students at the Harvard Kennedy School and part of this work involves utilizing FlashVote to engage the community and gather valuable input from residents. The City of Portland encourages residents to sign up if they receive a text message inviting them.

You can also sign up here: https://www.flashvote.com/portlandme  or call 775-235-2240 to participate by phone.

Signing up takes less than one minute and all survey data is anonymous. Personal or demographic information collected by FlashVote is never shared with the City or anyone else. When residents sign up, they can determine how surveys are received — whether by email, text or phone call. They will receive a notification whenever there is a new survey, and they will have 48 hours to participate before voting closes. Once the survey is closed, everyone who participated will automatically receive a summary of the anonymous results and be able to see how their responses compare to the group.

“The data gathered will be really valuable in guiding decision-making processes and ensuring we’re providing residents with the best services possible,” said Jessica Grondin, the City’s Director of Communications and Digital Services.

Please watch for text messages to be sent starting Thursday, December 2 and sign up so you don’t miss the first survey.
