Somerset Street Restoration Project Construction Delay- Begins Monday, June 21, 2021

Project start date has been moved to Monday, June 21, 2021, The Department of Public Works, in coordination with the Maine DOT, will begin construction of the Somerset Street Restoration Project. The project involves construction of a new intersection at Elm Street and Somerset Street; reconfiguration of the intersection with Preble Street, Somerset/Kennebec Street and Alder Street; installation of sidewalks on both sides of Somerset/Kennebec Street from Elm Street to Hanover Street; installation of pedestrian lighting; and paving of Somerset/Kennebec Street from Elm to Hanover Street. Due to the impact of these improvements, parking lot reconstruction work will take place at 137 Kennebec Street. 

The project is expected to reach substantial completion within a four-month period, weather permitting. Please seek alternate route, if possible, to avoid delays.
