Fish Point & Eastern Prom. Hillside Improvement Projects

2.3.21_ FishPoint_EPHillside_Improvements

Portland's Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department has been working on improvement projects at Fish Point and Eastern Prom Hillside.

Fish Point Improvements: Horticulture has been working with Dylan Lippold Seaside Landscape to reduce invasive species populations (primarily Rugosa Rose, Bittersweet, Japanese Knotweed, Multiflora Rose, and Asiatic Honeysuckle). This is part of an ongoing site improvement to enhance the beauty, accessibility, and ecological health of the area. We will continue to replant with native trees, shrubs, and wild flowers in the spring.

Eastern Prom Hillside Improvements:  Many of the Historic Prom hillsides are thick with invasive Bittersweet and Multi Flora Rose, which are compromising the health of many native trees and blocking the once unparalleled view. Our work will be over the course of a few years but each step taken makes for a much more sustainable tree stand.
