The Department of Public Services Trash and Recycling crews will not be collecting trash or recycling in the City of Portland on Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2008. Residents who normally place their material out for collection on Monday should instead place it out on Saturday, August 30, 2008. More

City of Portland Engineers: Improving Our Environmental Transportation System

The Engineering Division within the Department of Public Services has a number of different responsibilities with a primary mission of monitoring, evaluating, designing and constructing the City's infrastructure.

Archives
The City Engineer's Archives is an excellent resource for anyone trying to find out more about the history of the City's streets and infrastructure. The Archives contain over 30,000 engineering plans, as well as other technical records such as survey field books, written street and sewer records, and City property deeds.

The City Engineer's Archives are located on the third floor at 55 Portland Street. They are open to the public Tuesday through Thursday from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm. For more information, please call the Engineering Office, at 874-8846.
