Portland Celebrates PARKing Day on Friday, September 20

On Friday, September 20, Portland artists, businesses, activists, and citizens will participate in an international event called “PARK(ing) Day,” temporarily transforming downtown parking spaces into public parks and social spaces.

The City of Portland's Sustainability Office will be participating in PARKing Day on Exchange Street, next to Tommy's Park. There will be information about the City's climate action planning process - One Climate Future - and guest speakers throughout the day from various City departments - including Planning, Parks and Recreation, and Innovation and Performance Management - talking about initiatives they are working on that relate to the One Climate Future plan. Reclaimed PARK(ing) spaces will offer relaxation, shelter, games, and interactive experiences to visitors at the following locations:

  2. 70 Exchange St.

  3. 6 Chestnut St.

  4. 615 Congress St.

  5. 587 Congress St. / Congress Square

  6. 428 Fore St.

  7. 549 Congress St.

  8. 511 Congress St.
