Bedford Street Sewer Project to Resume - Forest Avenue Road Work Begins April 29

Beginning Monday, April 29, 2019, the City and Portland Water District's Bedford Street Sewer Separation project will resume utility work on Forest Avenue between Bedford Street and Deerfield Road. Motorists should expect delays when driving through the work zone. Project work on Forest Avenue will be intermittent for the remaining duration of the project. The current project schedule has work wrapping up by the end of August, 2019.  

IMPORTANT INFO FOR MOTORISTS:  Forest Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM while work is occurring. The contractor will be required to have two lanes of traffic open in the inbound direction between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM during the morning commute. The contractor will be required to have two lanes of traffic open in the outbound direction between 3:30 PM and 6:00 PM during the evening commute. 

The contractor will be working within this zone between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

IMPORTANT INFO FOR PEDESTRIANS:  The contractor will be adjusting sidewalk crossings to complete the work. Please follow the signage.

SEEK ALTERNATE ROUTE, IF POSSIBLE, TO AVOID DELAYS

Motorists are urged, if possible, to seek alternate routes into and around this area for the duration of the project. Inbound lanes on Preble Street Extension heading onto the peninsula have reopened to traffic as of April 24, 2019.
