The Engineering Division within the Department of Public Works has a number of different responsibilities with a primary mission of monitoring, evaluating, designing and constructing the city's infrastructure.

The city engineering archives are an excellent resource for anyone trying to find out more about the history of the city's streets and infrastructure. The archives contain over 30,000 engineering plans, as well as other technical records, such as survey field books, written street and sewer records, and city property deeds.
