Children's Programs
Before and after-school programs are offered at nine elementary schools. Click Here to Register Online or Here to Download the Form. This is an extension of the school day with activities including indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts activities, outdoor adventure with Maine Audubon, and opportunities for children to have a big brother or big sister through the Big Brothers / Big Sisters program. With a generous grant from Hannaford Supermarket, we are able to provide a healthy snack for every child that helps power them up during the busy after school. The Portland Public Library provides books on a rotating basis to each site and works with Recreation and the Portland Seadogs to challenge kids to “Read Your Way to Opening Day”.We've joined up with Portland Area Youth Soccer Association to offer an exciting soccer development program this winter.
