Overnight Parking

In order to perform necessary and ongoing street maintenance activities such as sweeping, catch basin cleaning, snow plowing, and removal, the city has instituted overnight parking restrictions that are broken down into two areas.

Off Peninsula

Off peninsula, there is alternate side street parking (odd/even) from midnight to 7 a.m. Parking is only permitted on the even-numbered house side on even-numbered days and on the odd-numbered house side on odd-numbered days. Parking for the day that starts at midnight *. Exception being on the streets bounded by Falmouth St, Deering Ave, Wasburn St, and Roberts St parking is restricted 12:01AM to 7:00am Wednesdays refer to the posted signs.
*Streets that have restricted parking on one side are exempt from Odd/Even.

On the Peninsula Which Includes Downtown


On the peninsula and the downtown area of Portland, overnight parking is specified by street signs. Street maintenance such as sweeping, catch basin cleaning, snow removal, etc., is normally done during this time (12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m.) Look for the red and white signs posted every 250' to avoid being ticketed and/or towed.

Note: The exception being from 10:00AM a.m. 2:00PM Tuesdays on the East End, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays, in the Parkside Neighborhood. Please, look for the red and white signs posted every 250'.
